Name: Pumpkin Ale
Brewery: Black Creek
Style: Flavoured Ale
Origin: Toronto, Ontario, Canada
Cost: $3.95 per bottle
Pours a clear light brown with very thin, nearly absent, tan head.
Smells of pumpkin, cinnamon, and nutmeg, with a touch of vanilla. There are some malty notes. Very reminiscent of fresh baked pumpkin pie.
Very weak, watery mouth feel. This beer has very little carbonation.
This beer tastes of light spices, cinnamon, cloves, sweet pumpkin, medium bitterness.
Brewed in Toronto at Black Creek, Pumpkin Ale is supposed to represent a traditional ale. It makes me feel a little bad for the folks that were in Ontario 150 years ago, because they would have drunk tasty but weak beer. This Pumpkin Ale smells great, tastes like pumpkin ale should, but it feels a little watery and is brown instead of the orange I’d expect from a pumpkin beer.
